CURATOR'S NOTES

Some works of art invite the eye to wander slowly from one detail to the next. This table runner does exactly that.

Using the Log Jam pattern by GE Designs, Diane Quirk arranged the True Love fabric collection by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics into a rhythmic series of intersecting strips. Soft sage, misty blue, deep navy, and warm ivory move through the design in a calm, measured progression, while florals, delicate geometrics, scattered dots, and text prints give each section its own character.

The clean lines of the pattern allow the fabric to remain the focus. Narrow light-colored strips create breathing room between the prints, guiding the eye across the runner and giving the composition a sense of structure without making it feel rigid. Diane’s careful piecing, quilting, and navy binding bring the work together with a polished finish that feels both graceful and inviting.

Created for the table but worthy of a closer look, this exhibit demonstrates how thoughtful fabric placement can transform a practical object into a quiet study of balance, color, and everyday beauty.
