ROCK HILL SC - With such a rich history in the textile industry, it almost seems predictory that a quilt shop in Rock Hill would find itself being voted not only the Favorite Local Quilt Shop in South Carolina for the second year in a row but also bringing home the national recognition as Favorite Local Quilt Shop in the entire United States.
With just over two years in business locally, and seven years as a small online store, SewEndipitous® Quilt Shop of Rock Hill SC was recently awarded the "Favorite Local Quilt Shop" (LQS) Grand Prize in the United States; and the Regional Prize in South Carolina, for the second year in a row, in the seventh annual LQS Contest's international competition.
The inception of the Local Quilt Shop Contest aims to shine a spotlight on the hard work of local quilt shops and offer the public a chance to express their gratitude by voting for their favorite store. ByAnnie.com and its sponsors are committed to supporting local quilt shops and their varied sewing communities around the world. The contest continues to grow yearly with 2,249 shops across 12 countries participating in the 2024 competition.
"The community of quilters in our area has been nothing but supportive since the shop opened its doors. They rallied around the competition and were determined to put SewEndipitous® on the international map. And they did!! We've shed and shared so many tears over this recognition and are honored by the outpouring of love and support we have received. We truly have been so blessed and can't thank our customers enough for their votes and everyday support of the shop," said the shop owner, Lisa Renee Baker. "I wish we could hug everyone who made this possible!"
The SewEndipitous® Quilt shop is a whopping 5,000 square feet of shopping space and offers quilting fabric, HUSQVARNA® VIKING® sewing, embroidery, and serger machines and accessories, as well as Arrow® and Kangaroo® Sewing Furniture and our exclusive quilting and sewing-themed SewEndipitous® Designs, including greeting cards, adult coloring books, journals, calendars, artwork, and eventually, our own line of quilting fabrics.

I recently finished the Blocks Evolution class. The first day, Lisa asked us why we joined the class. I said that while I was able to make simple squares and rectangle quilts that I would like to be able to sew triangles and make more complicated patterns. I learned so much more. I learned that precision makes piecing the top much more fun, and that the perfect cutting guide makes precision easy. The first row I sew together after using a regular quilting ruler to cut the squares. Squares are easy, right? No, I spent way too much time taking stitches out trying to make the small blocks square. The next week, I bought the Stripology cutting guide and took off cutting and sewing. It was worth the investment. My confidence grew as I was able to trust that each piece was cut perfectly. Yes, I still rip out seams, but that's because I sewed it wrong, no longer because I cut it wrong. If the proper equipment seems expensive when you are thinking of buying it, just remember that it is an investment which will pay you back with confidence and happiness!
