Class Name: Stab Hand Quilting
Date: June 21, 2023 (Wednesday)
Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Fee: $40.00 (Includes Kit $20 Value)
Instructor: Teresa Justice
Class Summary:
Stab quilting is a technique used in hand quilting where the quilter takes one stitch at a time, rather than the more common running stitch. This technique requires the use of a quilt hoop and involves using the less dominant hand on top of the quilt and the dominant hand underneath the quilt. For example, right-handed quilters would have the left hand on top of the quilt and the right hand underneath the quilt.
Advantages of this quilting method are:
1. Less tiring on the hands, and much less stressful on arthritic hands or hands that tend to cramp when gripping items for more than 45 minutes at a time. Meaning you can quilt for longer periods of time.
2. Easier to consistently achieve stitches on the back of the quilt that match those on the front
3. No thimble needed
4. Use longer needles than those tiny betweens. So much easier to hold, thread and use.
5. Big Stitch quilting is easily done with stab quilting
