Class Summary:

In this class, you’ll build skills to help you create mitered binding strips that will then be applied to a small sample project that you create and bring with you to class. All of the skills learned can be easily applied to adding binding to any quilt or quilted project that you make.

Required Supplies:

6 ½” x 24” ruler or Stripology Squared ruler
A small ruler such as a 2 ½” x 6 ½” or a 6 ½” square or similar
A sample quilt “sandwich”: the top should be approximately 15” x 18” and the batting and backing piece should be approximately 18” x 21”. Please quilt this “sandwich”. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Some diagonal lines, a wide serpentine stitch or just simple straight lines going horizontally and vertically will suffice. Keep it simple!
¼ yard of coordinating fabric or (2) 2 ½” x 42” strips of coordinating fabric
Walking foot made for your machine (essential for this project) - a walking foot is designed to help you sewing smoothly through multiple layers of fabric and batting as you will be doing when adding binding to a project

Class Supplies:

¼” foot made for your sewing machine
Sewing Machine in good working condition (with the manual and accessories)
Pins
Wonder Clips
Spare Needles (I prefer an 80/12 needle) - a brand new needle is essential
Snipping Scissors
Neutral Thread and full bobbin(s)
Seam ripper
Rotary cutter - a brand new blade is essential for cutting and trimming accuracy
Cutting mat - must have your own for this project
Pressing mat
Portable iron

Recommended:

Cleaning your machine on a regular basis (and before a class) helps it to work efficiently and helps you to avoid issues while in class. A new needle and a change of your rotary cutter blade also adds to your success with a new project.

Important Considerations:

All attendees are respectfully asked to refrain from wearing perfumes and scented lotions/oils due to allergy and olfactory sensitivities of some students and instructors.
Additionally, must be 18 years or older to register unless otherwise approved by instructor in advance.
Tardy/Late arrivals greater than 15 minutes from class start time will not be admitted and no refunds will be issued.

You cancel 30 days prior to the Class/Event.
