Class Summary:
Learn to make a stylish lined tote bag with exterior and interior (welt style) zippers.
Technique Takeaways:
Working with canvas and lining, pockets, zipper installation 2 styles.
Class Supplies:
- Crescent Tote Pattern by Noodlehead (available at SewEndiptious)
- Fabric for exterior (canvas is recommended) *, lining (quilting cotton)
- Handbag Zippers (6” and 8”) One double pull 18” or longer nylon coil zipper would work well**
- Lightweight fusible interfacing & fusible fleece interfacing per pattern
- Midweight fusible interfacing (optional – see below) *
- One and a quarter yds 1 ½ inch wide cotton webbing
- Sewing machine in working order that you are familiar with
- Rotary cutter and mat
- Jean weight needles
- Neutral or matching thread (consider the various fabrics you are using)
- Sewing clips, pins, scissors, etc.
- Ruler (suggested 18 X 6 ½ or similar)
- Marking pen/pencil of your choice to mark handle placement
- Fabric scissors, and All-purpose /scissors (to cut zipper)
- Standard, zipper feet (seam allowance except as noted is ½ “)

Additional Considerations:
*Exterior fabric – canvas is suggested per pattern. I found using midweight interfacing on lightweight canvas before ironing the fusible fleece to the exterior fabric really helped with crispness on the bag. SewEndipitous does have a small collection of canvas available.
** The pattern calls for metal zippers (6” and 8”) however metal zippers are much more difficult to work with if you are not confident working with zippers. A double pull zipper 18” or longer is easier to work with and we will discuss in class.
Recommended:
Cleaning your machine on a regular basis (and before a class) helps it to work efficiently and helps you to avoid issues while in class. A new needle and a change of your rotary cutter blade also adds to your success with a new project.

All attendees are respectfully asked to refrain from wearing perfumes and scented lotions/oils due to allergy and olfactory sensitivities of some students and instructors.
Additionally, must be 18 years or older to register unless otherwise approved by the instructor in advance.
Tardy/Late arrivals greater than 15 minutes from class start time will not be admitted and no refunds will be issued.
Classes and Events are Non-Refundable Without Exception Unless:
You are able to find another person to take your spot.
You cancel 30 days prior to the Class/Event.
The instructor cancels.
