Quilting 201 - Constructing Your First Quilt

Description: This is the third in a series of skill-building classes for those who are new to quilting. In this class, we’ll begin construction of a simple, lap-size quilt using a pattern from Villa Rosa.  You’ll leave the class with completed quilt blocks as well as the ability to continue building your quilting/piecing skills.

Note: Bring a snack/lunch as we will work thru lunch. A refrigerator is available in the classroom.

Supplies Needed:

• 1 yard each - medium, dark and light fabrics. These should all have good contrast.
• 3 yds. backing fabric
• ½ yard for binding
• ¼” foot made for your sewing machine
• Sewing Machine in good working condition (with the manual and accessories)
• Pins
• Spare Needles and bobbins
• Small Scissors
• Thread and full bobbin 
• Seam ripper
• Rotary cutter and extra blade(s)
• Ruler - 6 ½” x 24” or similar
• Cutting mat
• Pressing mat 
• Portable iron 
• Best Press or a light spray starch
