Description: This is the second in a series of skill-building classes for those who are new to quilting. In this class, we’ll learn how to put a binding on our previously constructed placemats. In addition, we’ll discuss types of batting and their uses in quilting. Batting for the placemat will be supplied by the instructor.

Note: Bring a snack/lunch as we will work thru lunch. A refrigerator is available in the classroom.


Supplies Needed:

  • 1 fat quarter to be used as the backing for the placemats created in the Quilting 101 class 
  • ¼ yard of coordinating fabric for binding
  • ¼” foot made for your sewing machine
  • Walking foot made for your sewing machine
  • Sewing Machine in good working condition (with the manual and accessories)
  • Pins
  • Spare Needles and bobbins
  • Small Scissors
  • Neutral thread and full bobbin 
  • Seam ripper
  • Rotary cutter and extra blade(s)
  • Rulers - 6 ½” x 24” or similar and a smaller ruler such as a 6 ½” square ruler
  • Cutting mat
  • Pressing mat 
  • Portable iron 
  • Best Press or a light spray starch
  • Frixon Pen/Marker

Classes and Events are Non-Refundable Unless:
  1.  You are able to find another person to take your spot.  
  2.  You cancel 30 days prior to the Class/Event.  
  3.  The instructor cancels.
